Beloved,
If we're honest, we have to admit that it is not a person that causes us pain, instead it is our unrealistic expectations of that person.
Instead of accepting a person for exactly as they've shown themselves to be; we create idealized versions of that person in our minds and in our hearts. We hold onto what psychiatrist call "Defensive Hope"- hope we use to defend ourselves against facing the truth about someone we care about. We don't want to accept the reality about who they are. So, we hope...
God desires to give us His very best. The more we surrender our plans and desires to Him, the more He prepares us for the truth of Ephesians 3:20 "Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
Hope in God.
